Edinburgh Tool Library memberships

We're excited to announce a new partnership with the Edinburgh Tool Library (ETL)!

Just like a regular library, ETL lets you borrow all sorts of tools—drills, saws, gardening gear, and other gadgets. This saves you money and storage space, and it's better for the environment because it reduces the need to buy new things. ETL is also a community hub that promotes practical skills, sustainability, and a "make and mend" attitude. Their website shows what their members are doing, the local groups they support, and the workshops they run.

Both ETL and ECCAN offer memberships for individuals and organisations. An organisational membership with ETL can give your team and volunteers discounted access to tools, and helps everyone embrace repairing, reusing, and sustainable practices, contributing to a greener Edinburgh.

We know many of our ECCAN members are already big on sustainability and looking for ways to be more circular, often with limited resources. That's why we've teamed up with ETL to offer free one-year memberships to a select group within our ECCAN Network!

Who Can Apply?

We have 31 free memberships available:

  • 15 for Edinburgh-based groups within the ECCAN network with an annual turnover of £150,000 or less, operating in Edinburgh. Imagine what you could do with easy access to a wide range of tools for your projects!

  • 16 for enthusiastic individuals who live in Edinburgh and aren't already ETL members as of April 24, 2025. This is your chance to get into DIY, repair, and sustainable living without the cost of buying tools.

How to Apply

To apply, please fill out a short application form via this link. The form will ask you to briefly explain how you plan to use the ETL membership—for example, how often and for what purposes—and how it would help you take community climate action.
