Purpose - a Wellbeing Economies Film screening

  • Leith Depot 138-142 Leith Walk Edinburgh, Scotland, EH6 5DT United Kingdom (map)

An inspiring film about the fight for a better economic system - one that prioritises people and planet over endless growth and profit.

‘Purpose’ documents the journey of economists Katherine Trebeck and Lorenzo Fioramonti as they challenge the GDP-focused economic model, advocating for systems that prioritise human and planetary well-being over our current, growth driven economy.

The film chronicles the creation of the Wellbeing Economy Governments (WEGo) alliance—including Scotland, New Zealand, Iceland, Wales, and Finland—and the political hurdles met in shifting economic, social, and environmental policy.

Afterwards there will be a introduction to Community Wealth Building, Scotland’s new economic development model and a discussion.
