Join Artist as Advocate, ECCAN’s Arts and Culture sub-group, for a visit to Sandra George’s Start from the Levelexhibition at City Art Centre, followed by a relaxed conversation over a cuppa.

Artist as Advocate’s monthly meet-ups offer artists and creatives a chance to experience culture together, connect with peers and create space for conversation and reflection. The first hour is spent enjoying a cultural experience, followed by an informal chat together.

For September, the group will explore Start from the Level, an exhibition celebrating the work of photographer Sandra George, who spent more than 30 years working with communities and documenting social-action projects across Edinburgh.

Created in partnership with Craigmillar Now, the exhibition brings together more than 200 photographs from George’s archive, offering a distinctive social history of Edinburgh and the communities she worked alongside.

The exhibition is normally ticketed, but free entry will be provided for Artist as Advocate attendees.
