The Beltane Fire Society has confirmed its next Open Meeting for Saturday 21 February at Greyfriars Kirk.
1:00pm – Welcome for new members
2:00pm – Presentations begin
The Beltane Fire Society is a volunteer-led charity that produces two major festivals each year in Edinburgh: Beltane (late April) and Samhuinn (late October). These festivals celebrate the changing seasons through a contemporary reinterpretation of Celtic folklore, with fire, dance, music, ritual and performance.
The Open Meeting is an opportunity to learn more about the Society, meet group organisers, ask questions and find out how to get involved. No previous performance or arts experience is required, and there are many ways to take part - including stewarding, production, costume, technical roles, photography and other support roles.
People new to the Society often begin as Guardian Stewards, supporting the procession and gaining a good overview of the festivals and performances. Festival groups rehearse in the lead-up to each event, offering a chance to build skills, confidence and community over time.
Everyone is welcome to attend. For the latest updates, further details on getting involved, or to apply, visit beltane.org or email jennyg@beltane.org.
