Feelings, Family and the Future: Workshop on Schools Supporting Parents and Children

  • Chrystal Macmillan Building 15a George Square Edinburgh, Scotland, EH8 9LD United Kingdom (map)

How can schools better support children and families experiencing emotions around climate change?

This half-day workshop brings together parents, educators, researchers and community organisations to explore climate emotions among families in Scotland and Australia, and consider practical ways schools can respond.

Researchers from the University of Edinburgh and international institutions will share insights into climate anxiety, emotions and family life, followed by an interactive session where participants can contribute ideas and help develop approaches to supporting families and schools.

What to expect

The morning will include:

  • Presentations from researchers working across climate emotions, education and family life

  • A catalyst video screening

  • An exhibition and opportunities to connect over morning tea

  • An interactive discussion exploring what schools can do to support parents and children
