Join Lauriston Farm for a hands-on volunteering session harvesting their Hebridean Rye, an ancient Scottish grain that has been grown for centuries in the Uists. The project helps conserve this traditional Scottish crop while exploring its place in a more resilient and sustainable food system.

Volunteers will help harvest the rye using a variety of methods, from bundling and drying the grain to trying out new harvesting equipment. No previous experience is needed - just bring suitable outdoor clothing and be ready to spend an afternoon working together in the fresh air.

This session is suitable for anyone who is comfortable walking on uneven ground and bending to gather the harvest. Gloves and tools will be provided, and under 16s are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
