National Meeting: International Resistance to Data Centres

Join Friends of the Earth Scotland and Friends of the Earth Ireland for an online event exploring how communities around the world are organising in response to the rapid growth of large-scale AI data centres.

The expansion of data centres is raising growing concerns around energy and water use, impacts on nature, increased demand for minerals and metals, and the continued use of fossil fuels.

But communities around the world are challenging new developments and sharing alternatives.

This national meeting will hear stories from communities resisting data centres internationally, with opportunities to share strategies, lessons and solidarity and learn from campaigns that are successfully challenging developments.

Speakers include:

  • Thieva Lingam, Chair of Friends of the Earth International

  • Rosi Leonard, Friends of the Earth Ireland

  • Further speakers to be confirmed
