ECCAN’s Fringe Show “Act for Climate”: Bringing Forum Theatre to Venue 13’s Climate Change Theatre Action!
This August, ECCAN is thrilled to announce our partnership with Venue 13 to present a special series of Climate Change Theatre Action (CCTA) plays, celebrating a decade of bold climate theatre! Launched in 2015, Climate Change Theatre Action is a worldwide festival of short plays about the climate crisis presented biennially to coincide with the United Nations COP meetings.
During the month of August and across 20 unique events and exclusively at Venue 13, audiences will experience a curated selection of short plays part of CCTA, including 40 audience favourites from past festivals and 10 brand-new commissioned works. This international showcase brings together artists, activists, and changemakers to explore the climate crisis through urgent and inventive storytelling.
As part of this exciting initiative, ECCAN will be presenting our first-ever Fringe show alongside our group member, Active Inquiry, renowned for their forum theatre work. The event will feature live readings of CCTA plays, a relaxed networking opportunity and a truly participatory forum theatre activity facilitated by Active Inquiry. Attendees will have the opportunity to become a "spect-actors," stepping into conflict-driven scenes from one of CCTA’s plays, and collectively reimagine them in support of community-led climate action. No experience is necessary and acting is optional.
We are giving away 10 tickets to ECCAN members on a first come, first served basis. All you need to do is email us from 15th July onwards saying you would like one ticket for our show, and let us know if you have any access requirements.
Join us at Venue 13 on 22nd August from 4-6pm. You can get your ticket here through the Edinburgh Fringe website.
Don't miss this powerful and interactive exploration of the climate crisis through the lens of theatre!
