Edinburgh Community Solar Co-operative launches new share offer

Help power Edinburgh’s transition to renewable energy! Edinburgh Community Solar Co-operative has launched a new community share offer, inviting people to invest in locally owned solar energy and help bring more renewable electricity to public buildings across the city.

The co-operative is aiming to raise £1.13 million to install solar panels on rooftops across Edinburgh, including the Royal Commonwealth Pool and five schools.

The project is the third phase of Edinburgh Community Solar Co-operative’s work to expand community-owned renewable energy in the capital. By generating clean electricity locally, the scheme aims to reduce carbon emissions, lower energy costs for public buildings and keep more of the financial benefits of renewable energy within Edinburgh.

The co-operative already operates 30 solar installations across the city, generating renewable electricity for schools, leisure centres and community buildings. Surplus profits from these projects are reinvested through a Community Benefit Fund, which provides grants to local organisations working on sustainability and community initiatives.
