Greenlight Fund 2025-26: Your Voice, Your Climate Action!

We're absolutely buzzing with excitement at ECCAN to unveil a brand-new chapter for our beloved Greenlight fund! This year, we're not just distributing funds; we're empowering you, our incredible community, to shape the future of climate action in Edinburgh.

For 2025-26, we have a fantastic £115,000 ready to ignite impactful climate projects across the city. As always, Greenlight is designed to support small to medium-sized, community-led initiatives that truly make a difference to both people and the environment.

What's new this year? We're thrilled to announce a more democratic and engaging selection process! After applications close on Friday, August 1st, 2025, we'll be introducing an online voting system where our ECCAN members will play a crucial role in deciding which projects receive funding.

Here's how it works: Projects will be grouped into five categories based on their requested grant amount:

  • Up to £20,000 (large grants)

  • Up to £10,000 (large grants)

  • Up to £5,000 (medium grants)

  • Up to £1,000 (small grants)

  • Up to £500 (micro-grants)

As an ECCAN member, you'll have the power to cast your vote using a Single Transferable Voting system, ranking your top choices within each category. Your vote will help us identify the most impactful and community-supported projects.

Want to have your say? Make sure you're an ECCAN member – it's a requirement to vote and ensures fair representation. You will receive an email with voting instructions, explaining how your name and postcode will be used to verify membership and prevent multiple votes.

Ready to apply? The application window for the Greenlight Fund 2025-26 is now open! You can apply if you're a community group (constituted or not), a registered charity, social enterprise, CIC, Community Benefit Society, or an individual (with a partner organisation for fund receipt). Remember, your project should be community-led and benefit both your local area and the environment.

Key Dates:

  • Applications Open: Monday, June 16th, 2025

  • Applications Close: Friday, August 1st, 2025

  • Voting window: Monday 4th August to Friday 15th August, 5pm

  • Award Announcements: Successful projects will be made known to the general public within three weeks of the closing date, at our Act for Climate Fringe show

Last year, we proudly awarded £121,000 to 32 fantastic groups, and you can read all about their incredible work in our Greenlight Report 24-25 on our website. This year, with your participation in the voting process, we're confident we'll support even more transformative climate action!

Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of something truly special. Apply for the Greenlight Fund and get ready to cast your vote for a greener Edinburgh
