Against Capture is a group exhibition investigating the materiality and dramaturgy of images. Through drawing, sculpture, sound and moving-image, we are inducted into alternative ways of seeing that disrupt the seamless logic of photography.
The works in the show explicate the ontology of images and the capacity of material to act as witness, navigating the captive realities of surveillance, incarceration and capitalist extraction. They invoke fugitivity and intimacy as tactics against capture.
The exhibition will house a temporary darkroom, and a series of events will focus on DIY developing practices, particularly analogue forms of manipulating film.
