This 4 week programme explores how a just and connected community can withstand adversities and catastrophes, no matter the source. Grounded in the Five Foundational Protective Factors for Building Universal Mental Wellness & Transformational Resilience, this series of workshops brings together people working at the intersection of climate and other disaster preparedness and mental health in communities across Scotland.

On 30th September, the session is “Exploring the ongoing work of healing trauma and suffering within communities, considering potential displacement, disaster, and existing structural inequalities.” It will cover:
- Building and sustaining Resilience-Centered Networks (RCNs) that can continue this work over time.
- Core learning: Understanding community trauma and collective healing
- Addressing barriers to connection and continuity in resilience work
- Exploring the concept of Sumud (steadfastness) as a model of community resilience under extreme adversity and catastrophe Inspiring examples: A local example of a neighbourhood-level network in an urban context. Angus Climate Hub lead on a Community Resilience Roadshow; rural outreach and connection-building after a major storm.
- Insights on trauma, displacement, and resistance from Palestinian communities.
- Deepening understanding of what it means to hold resilience through long-term adversity
