Rising in the Body: An Ecological Embodiment Workshop

  • The Meadows The Meadows Edinburgh, Scotland, EH1 3LH United Kingdom (map)

Overview

Join at the Edinburgh Climate Festival, for this free somatic movement session delivered by Monica De Ioanni

Join them for "Rising in the Body," an interactive session that combines somatic movement, dance, improvisation, and ecological embodiment practices. This workshop is designed to cultivate a deep, personal connection with ourselves and the natural world through playful, creative, and nourishing movement experiences.

Participants will explore their relationship with gravity, anatomy, and their environment through improvisation and body-awareness exercises. Using visualization, vocalization, and gentle hands-on techniques (if preferred), the session will encourage a mindful exploration of our bodily systems and their interconnectedness with the Earth. The workshop emphasises awareness, creativity, and reflection, fostering resilience and a sense of embodied ecology—an understanding that our well-being is intrinsically linked to the health of our planet.

Following the festival’s theme this year: Intertwined, as they invite you to experience—understanding that our bodies and the environment are part of a shared, resilient web of life. By engaging in movement and reflection, you can deepen your awareness of how personal practices influence collective ecological health, inspiring a more mindful and embodied approach to climate action.

The session takes place in a safe, inclusive space that welcomes all levels of experience, encouraging participants to reconnect with their bodies and the environment through creative exploration. The practice aims to foster community, resilience, and a renewed sense of responsibility towards our ecological future.
