Creativity in a Changing World: Join the conversation this Saturday
What role can artists and creativity play in helping us navigate a changing world?
This Saturday, a Climate Café at Fringe Central will bring together performers, makers, storytellers and anyone curious about the relationship between creativity, climate action and sustainability.
Co-hosted with Circus Zambia, the pilot gathering will create space for people working across different creative disciplines and contexts to meet, exchange ideas and learn from one another — including hearing perspectives from Circus Zambia artists alongside creatives based in Scotland.
Rather than arriving with a set of answers, the morning will unfold through conversation and creative prompts, exploring how the arts can inspire climate action, how cultural exchange can broaden our perspectives, and how we might reduce the environmental impacts of making and touring creative work.
These are practical questions, but also creative ones. As we navigate the climate and nature crisis, the arts can give us ways to tell different stories, make sense of change, bring people together and imagine what could come next.
A space for conversation and exchange
Climate Cafés are designed to be informal and welcoming, with no expertise required. This one is an opportunity to step away from the rush of the Fringe for a morning, meet people working across different places and practices, and spend some time thinking together.
Whether you work in the arts, are curious about sustainability, want to meet others exploring similar questions or simply want to listen and contribute to the conversation, everyone is welcome.
The hope is that people leave with new connections, fresh perspectives and renewed confidence in the role creativity can play in building more sustainable futures.
ECCAN will be attending, and we’d love to see members of our network there too.
