Have Your Say on Edinburgh’s Good Food Future

The City of Edinburgh Council has begun work on a new Good Food Nation Plan for Edinburgh – and is inviting organisations and communities across the city to help shape it.

The Scottish Government’s Good Food Nation ambition is for everyone in Scotland to be able to take pride and pleasure in, and benefit from, the food they produce, buy, cook, serve and eat. As part of this work, local authorities and health boards are required to develop and deliver their own Good Food Nation Plans.

Edinburgh is now at the early stages of developing its city-wide plan, and the Council wants to hear what matters to people, organisations and the communities they serve when it comes to food.

Two online scoping sessions are taking place in September, providing an opportunity to learn more about the Good Food Nation and contribute to the early development of Edinburgh’s approach.

Participants will be invited to share key issues, priorities and opportunities, while also hearing about food-related work already happening across the city and connecting with others working in this area.

The Good Food Nation touches on many different parts of our food system, so the conversation is relevant to a wide range of organisations and sectors – including groups providing services and support within communities. No previous knowledge of the Good Food Nation is needed.

The online sessions take place on Thursday 17th September and Monday 21th September, from 10–11:30am.

If your organisation works with communities in Edinburgh, this is an opportunity to bring their experiences and priorities into the conversation at an early stage and help inform how the city’s Good Food Nation Plan develops.
