Help a young person take their first steps into a green career
Impact Arts is looking for Edinburgh organisations working around nature, conservation, climate action and related areas to offer volunteering opportunities to young people taking part in its Green Starts programme this autumn.
Green Starts is a 12-week employability programme for 16–24 year olds who are not currently in education, training or employment. Many participants are interested in environmental issues and exploring potential careers in the green sector.
As part of the programme, Impact Arts is looking to connect participants with local organisations where they can gain practical experience through volunteering. About Green Starts
Running from 28th September–15th December 2026, Green Starts combines environmental conservation, creative activities and employability support.
Impact Arts is working in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland’s Holyrood Park Rangers, with participants spending time outdoors in Holyrood Park working with and learning from the Ranger team, alongside sessions at The Crannie.
The programme aims to help young people develop employability skills, gain a qualification and progress towards employment, education or further training. Participants receive a daily training allowance, with snacks and travel reimbursement also available where needed.

Green Starts is open to 16–24 year olds in Edinburgh who are not currently in education, training or employment, particularly those interested in nature, conservation, climate action, green careers or the arts.
The programme runs Mondays and Tuesdays, 10am–3pm, for 12 weeks from 28th September.
