The People’s Emergency Briefing: Bringing Climate Evidence to Communities

We’re hosting a community screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing – a film bringing the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis into a shared, local space.

The film follows a National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster in 2025, where leading UK scientists and experts presented the risks of climate and nature breakdown to decision-makers. This screening is part of a wider effort to make that evidence accessible beyond Parliament.

What is The People’s Emergency Briefing?

The People’s Emergency Briefing is a nationwide community initiative bringing the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis out of Westminster and into local communities.

Based on a major briefing delivered to UK decision-makers, it shares insights from leading scientists and experts in a format designed for local screenings – with communities across the UK hosting screenings and discussions.

Each screening creates space to reflect on what this means for everyday life, and to take part in a facilitated discussion - offering an opportunity for essential conversation, shared understanding and planning for the future at a local level.

ECCAN’s screening

We’re hosting two screenings and discussions at Augustine United Church, taking place at 3–5pm and 6:30–8:30pm.

Each session includes:

  • A 50-minute film screening

  • A 1-hour facilitated group discussion

No prior knowledge is needed – this will be a welcoming space, just come along.

Why attend?

  • Hear clear, evidence-based insights on the climate and nature crisis

  • Reflect on what it means here in Edinburgh

  • Be part of a shared conversation about what comes next
